In the city of Azov in the Rostov region, it is planned to build a plant for the deep processing of corn grain. The initial phase will necessitate an investment of approximately 40 billion rubles, with its launch set for the culmination of 2026. The project aims to achieve import substitution of starch, starch-containing products, food, and feed additives used in various industries such as food, pharmaceuticals, and confectionery.
In the production of medicines, starch is used as a binding, loosening and anti-friction agent. It can enhance the porosity of tablets and facilitate the infiltration of liquids into them.
Once the initial phase of construction is completed, the enterprise will have a grain processing capacity of 1.25 thousand tons per day. Then – in 2028-2029 – the capacity will increase to 3.5 thousand tons.
It is clarified that the final cost of the project and the range of manufactured products are under development. Furthermore, it has already been established that the products will be distributed in both domestic and international markets, simultaneously.
