Vice Governor of St. Petersburg Kirill Polyakov reported on the state and development prospects of the pharmaceutical industry in the city. According to him, the annual volume of shipments by St. Petersburg pharmaceutical companies is 110 billion rubles.
Kirill Polyakov noted that by 2030 the goal is to achieve 90% provision with own medicines, and indicated the movement in this direction. St. Petersburg produces 430 types of medicines, of which about half are included in the register of vital ones.
There are about 150 pharmaceutical companies and 30 research institutes operating in the industry. Some of them are residents of the special economic zone “St. Petersburg”. For example, Biocad plans to become one of the major investors in projects in this zone in 2024. The Novoorlovskaya territory is home to the Pharmasyntez-Nord production site, and this month the Aktivny Komponent company began construction of new facilities with the support of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade within the framework of the Cluster Investment Platform mechanism.
