The Russian Ministry of Health has proposed an initiative to define specific criteria for creating a list of strategically important medications. This list is planned to be compiled on the basis of the existing list of vital and essential drugs. The key condition for inclusion in the list of key drugs is a full production cycle of the drug in Russia.
The agency has prepared a draft of amendments to the Federal Law “On the Circulation of Medicines”. The document is at the public discussion stage until October 30. In particular, it is proposed to include a clause containing a definition of the list of strategically important medicines, which should be developed by the government. This list will include medicines that meet the primary needs of the healthcare system. The list will be formed on the basis of the list of vital and essential drugs, taking into account the localization of all stages of production on Russian territory.
