Vladimir Chulanov, the chief freelance specialist in infectious diseases at the Russian Ministry of Health, announced that every child in the Russian Federation diagnosed with hepatitis C has the potential to be completely cured within the next two years. He noted that this opportunity will appear thanks to the Circle of Kindness foundation.
“The possibility of micro-elimination (stopping liver inflammation) of hepatitis C in the child population with the help of the Circle of Goodness foundation. I hope that in the next year or two we will cure almost all the children who were registered and identified with us,” he said.
In the spring of 2023, chronic hepatitis C was added to the Circle of Kindness foundation’s list of conditions supported. By summer, the Russian Ministry of Health announced that the foundation had received over 1,500 applications for medication assistance for children suffering from chronic hepatitis C since its inclusion. Children aged 3 to 18 can now access necessary medicines funded by the state.
