On July 30, St. Petersburg witnessed the groundbreaking ceremony for the new manufacturing complex of Active Component JSC. The event was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Health, the St. Petersburg administration, and the pharmaceutical industry. Supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade under the Cluster Investment Platform, this project aims to enhance import independence in the pharmaceutical sector.
The complex will produce active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) for 35 international nonproprietary names listed as essential drugs. These APIs will be used in medications for cancer treatment, organ transplants, cardiovascular diseases, and type 2 diabetes. Key attendees included Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Ekaterina Priezzheva, Deputy Minister of Health Sergey Glagolev, and Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg Oleg Ergashev.
