Russia has registered a rapid HIV test

The Rapid Bio company (Skolkovo resident) received a registration certificate for a rapid test for early diagnosis of HIV. With its help, you can detect the fact of infection as early as 10-12 days, and the testing time is 8 minutes. The inclusion of the rapid test in the State Register of Medical Devices allows the company to begin its production and sales, the press service of the Skolkovo Foundation told GxP News.

“Compared to previous generations of tests, the fourth generation RAPID-HIV-AG/AT-IHA simultaneously detects the p24 antigen and antibodies to the virus, which makes it possible to determine the presence of HIV at very early stages,” the message clarifies. The company’s capacity allows it to produce 15 million tests per month – such a production volume can fully satisfy Russia’s needs for rapid HIV diagnostics.

“It is important to note that the test is Russian, with a full cycle of development and production at the sites of the Skolkovo innovation center. The test is not only highly specific and sensitive: one of its main features is the speed and simplicity of the study, which does not require laboratory equipment or special conditions,” commented Anzhey Zhimbiev, CEO of Rapid Bio.
