Russia has provided the Republic of Cuba 26 tons of medicines and medical supplies, serving as humanitarian aid for hospitals. These drugs have a specific purpose: to combat non-communicable diseases, alleviate pain and inflammation, and meet the demands for surgical supplies and hospital equipment.
The process of transferring the cargo was mediated by representatives of the Pan American Health Organization (WHO regional structure). According to a spokesperson from WHO/PAHO, these medicines and medical supplies will prove to be immensely valuable to Cuba. Their early transfer, at the onset of the hurricane season, ensures that in the event of any unforeseen circumstances, the medications will already be readily available.
According to the chargé d’affaires of Russia in Cuba, Sergei Oboznov, Russia intends to take steps to further strengthen relations with the Latin American country.
