NovaMedica actively endorsed and participated in the 20th Anniversary Interdisciplinary Conference with International Participation “Vein Readings”, dedicated to current issues in neurology. The conference took place on February 19-21, 2024, in Moscow. NovaMedica provided support to several interesting events held to discuss modern methods of treating migraines, headaches and sleep disorders.
A most fascinating discussion developed at the meeting of the Experts Club held with the support of our company: renowned Russian specialists in the field of migraine therapy spoke on practical issues of treating this disease. The topic of the club, with an emphasis on practical medical experience, “Patient with migraine in everyday practice: clinical profile and choice of best therapy”, attracted many participants to the hall.
Experts readily shared their experience. Among them were Marina KORESHKINA (Doctor of Medical Sciences, member of the Russian Headache Society, the International Headache Society and the Council of Experts of the Association of Interdisciplinary Medicine), Vera OSIPOVA (Doctor of Medical Sciences, leading researcher at the Z.P. Solovyov Scientific and Practical Center for Psychoneurology, member of the Russian Society for the Study of Headache, member of the Headache Panel of the European Academy of Neurology, Elena FILATOVA (Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Nervous System Diseases of the Professional Education Institute of the I.M. Sechenov University, neurologist at the A.M. Vein Clinic of Headaches and Autonomic Disorders). The discussion was moderated by Gyuzal TABEEVA (Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Nervous System Diseases of the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, President of the Russian Society for the Study of Headache, Head of the Department of Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology of the Research Center of the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University).
In their speeches, the experts presented the path of a patient with migraine and the options for treatment based on the analysis of several real clinical cases. The first case was a patient who first contacted a specialist for a diagnosis of migraine and selection of therapy. Next, the experts studied the case of a patient whose prescribed treatment turned out to be ineffective. Finally, there was the case of a patient with a combination of migraine and tension headache.
Among the new drugs that have expanded the arsenal of Russian doctors, the speakers mentioned the drug Relonova released by NovaMedica. It was cited as a Rizatriptan with higher efficacy and speed of action than those of the traditional Sumatriptan. Another advantage that the experts noted was the fact that Relonova is a Russian drug manufactured inside the country, which is why it does not depend on imports.
The meeting of the Experts Club was complemented by a vivid and engaging special lecture by one of the leading experts in the field of neurology, Eduard YAKUPOV, Head of the Professor Yakupov Neuroclinic and Education Center. The topic of his report was “Circulus Vitiosus of Migraine, Sleep Disorders and Anxiety: How to Break Out?”, which served as a link and transition to the panel talk on the treatment of sleep disorders.
This discussion on the “Comorbidity of sleep disorders: combination therapy for combined pathology” with the support of NovaMedica also attracted interested listeners and participants. This is not surprising as insomnia is a common problem affecting people’s quality of life and ability to work.
The audience was not disappointed, since the discussion turned out to be useful and rich, and the speakers all had the highest level of expertise. Among them were Olga TIKHOMIROVA (Doctor of Medical Sciences, Head of the Department of Clinical Neurology and Sleep Medicine, Chief Researcher of the A.M. Nikiforov All-Russian Center for Emergency and Radiation Medicine of the Ministry of Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Relief of Russia), Andrey DANILOV (Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Nervous System Diseases of the Institute of Professional Education of the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, Chairman of the Council of Experts of the Association of Interdisciplinary Medicine), Marina ZHURAVLEVA (Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor at the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, Chief Extraordinary Specialist Clinical Pharmacologist of the Moscow Department of Health). The discussion was moderated by Alexey DANILOV (Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Nervous System Diseases of the Institute of Professional Education of the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, Director of the Association of Interdisciplinary Medicine).
In their reports, the experts talked about new approaches, methods and pharmacological options for treating insomnia. They touched upon the very important issue of sleep disorders combined with pain syndrome and the importance of sleep disorders in the practice of a neurologist. The participants spoke in detail on different drugs and the possibility of combining them to increase the effectiveness of therapy. In this context, they also discussed the effectiveness of one of NovaMedica’s new drugs, Levroso Long, and gave a positive assessment to the fixed combination of its two active ingredients, diphenhydramine and prolonged-release melatonin. They noted that the combination not only allows falling asleep faster, but also maintains high quality of sleep throughout the night.
Lively discussion at the panel showed that the interest in the topic of treating sleep disorders was high – participants asked the speakers many practical questions, and on the sidelines noted that it was important for them to get the latest information about insomnia therapy and look at the problem from the various points of view of practicing specialists.
In 20 years, the “Vein Readings” have gained a well-deserved authority in the medical and pharmaceutical community. The conference was founded and is held by students of the legendary academician Alexander Moiseevich Vein, and its purpose is not only to raise the level of knowledge and professionalism of doctors, but also to create conditions for interdisciplinary dialogue. In recent years, the event has been attended by more than six thousand doctors. Participants share their experiences, the latest research, discoveries and practical developments.
