(RVO), a leader in implantable presbyopia-correcting corneal inlay technology, today announced that it has secured a $10 million credit facility from Square 1 Bank, a division of Pacific Western Bank. RVO announced receipt of U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for its Raindrop® Near Vision Inlay for the surgical correction of presbyopia on June 29, 2016. Proceeds from the credit facility will be used for working capital purposes including commercial operations.

PET radiotracer could reveal epigenetic activity in human brain

A team at the Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) has found that a PET radiotracer they developed can reveal epigenetic activity within the human brain. The team explained in a report published in Science Translational Medicine that a specific radiochemical called Martinostat can reveal the expression levels of epigenetics-regulating enzymes in the brain.

China is shutting down online drug sales for the time being, despite rapid growth. “The supervision system for third-party online pharmaceutical product sales is not mature yet,” said Shi Li Chen, director of Beijing Dingchen Pharmaceutical Management. “Traceability is a big problem. For example, how can we make sure of the sources of drugs selling online and also how could we make sure where do these drugs, prescription medicines in particular, go since people are usually anonymous online?”
