Drug production in Russia increased by 14.6% in the first half of 2024

In the first half of 2024, Russia’s pharmaceutical production experienced a surge of 14.6% compared to the same timeframe last year, according to Dmitry Galkin, the Director of the Department for the Development of the Pharmaceutical and Medical Industry at the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.

The Ministry of Health has approved trials for Russia’s first CAR-T drug

The Russian Ministry of Health has approved phases I and II clinical trials for the CAR-T drug Utzhefra, developed by the National Medical Research Center of Hematology. The trials will assess its safety and efficacy in 60 adults with relapsed B-cell lymphoproliferative diseases, conducted until the end of 2025.

Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko stated that since 2024, around 480 drugs have been registered, with over 70% from domestic manufacturers. Additionally, Roszdravnadzor issued 1,800 registration certificates for medical products, half of which are also Russian-made.

Pharmaceutical production to be created in Primorsky Region

A new pharmaceutical manufacturing plant is set to launch in Primorsky Krai by “Pharm DV,” a company that has been granted resident status in the Free Port of Vladivostok (FPV). They are committing 1.7 million rubles to establish the facility. From 2025, the facility is planned to produce antibacterial agents, oral care products, and various cosmetic products.

A 1.3 billion ruble contract has been initiated by the Kulakov National Medical Research Center to build a pharmaceutical production facility in Moscow for high-tech drugs based on somatic cells and cell secretome. The project will be implemented using state funding and will be completed in December 2027. Project funding spans four years: 394.4 million rubles in 2024, 203.9 million rubles in 2025, 196.7 million rubles in 2026, and 519.7 million rubles in 2027.
Russian anti-tuberculosis vaccine is in the final stage of clinical trials

Alexander Ginzburg, director of the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, announced that an innovative Russian vaccine against tuberculosis is now in the final stage of clinical trials. In contrast to the traditional BCG vaccine, which has provided protection against severe forms of tuberculosis in newborns for over a century, the innovative new drug is designed to prevent the actual infection itself.
Tomsk State University to open a 300 million ruble innovative chemical technology center
