JSC “Moscow Production Association” Metalist of the State Corporation “Rostec” has developed a bionic knee module with a built-in microprocessor that can operate on a single charge for 10 days. The new module will be put into serial production after final tests in the first quarter of 2024.
The bionic knee module, called “Comet”, is intended for prosthetic users with average and high levels of motor activity. It has a built-in microprocessor that is responsible for collecting and processing data in real time at a speed of more than a thousand times per second. The neural network predicts the rhythm and pattern of walking, which allows the prosthesis to be used in various ways, including running.
When creating the case, a unique domestic alloy RS-553 is used. “Previously, products came from abroad. Now we produce components for prosthetics at Rostec enterprises, successfully implementing import substitution measures,” said Maxim Vybornykh, Deputy General Director of Rostec. He added that Rostec’s products, including those that have no Russian analogues, are comparable to the best foreign samples and are optimal in terms of price and quality ratio.
