The project for remote sale of prescription drugs should be expanded, according to the heads of three State Duma committees: the Committee on Health Protection, Labor, Social Policy and Veterans’ Affairs, and the Committee on Economic Policy. The proposal suggests adding drugs that are provided free of charge or at a discounted price to privileged groups of citizens, funded by federal and regional budgets, to the list.

According to the authors of the appeal sent to Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, then pensioners, disabled people and military veterans will not need to visit the pharmacy and “stand in lines.” Currently, individuals in need of medication must obtain a prescription from a doctor. They are then required to personally visit an exclusive pharmacy situated either at or close to a healthcare facility in order to procure the necessary medication.
