More than 80% of medicines from the Vital and Essential Drugs list ones are produced domestically, and more than 30% of medical devices are Russian-made, said Yevgeny Kamkin, Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation.
“Currently, more than 80% of medicines from the national reimbursement list are produced in Russia, and 31% of medical devices today are Russian-made,” Kamkin said at a videoconference with Amin Al Ameeri, Assistant Undersecretary in UAE Ministry of Health.
According to him, the market of medical devices in Russia demonstrates noticeable growth — 1.8 times over the past four years.
Kamkin also added that the Russian healthcare system currently employs more than 2 million doctors and paramedical personnel, and there are over 259,000 healthcare facilities in the country.
The Deputy Minister noted that last year more than 3 million foreign citizens used medical services in Russia, with the most popular sectors of medical care being diagnostic examinations, oncological care, surgery, traumatology, ophthalmology, and pediatrics.
Kamkin noted that the Russian side is interested in cooperation with the UAE, exchange of experience, and joint work on a number of topical issues on the international health agenda. These include research and development in medicine, digital healthcare, vaccines development, production and supply, the fight against non-communicable diseases, and the provision of medicines to the population.
