A federal information system of sanitary and epidemiological information will be created in Russia. The regulation on it was approved by Mikhail Mishustin, the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation. The new system will contribute to more rapid detection and tracking of the spread of dangerous infections and the implementation of necessary measures. This was reported in the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers.
The government decree has been prepared in order to implement the new norms of the Federal Law “On Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare of the Population” adopted in the summer of 2021. The system being created will become part of a large-scale project “Sanitary Shield”, intended to maintain the health of the population and protect people from possible epidemics.
“The responsibility for the formation and maintenance of the system is entrusted to Rospotrebnadzor. It will ensure timely implementation of sanitary and anti-epidemic measures, forecasting of the situation based on statistical methods and mathematical models, prompt reporting on emerging threats,” the press service said.
The new digital resource will interact with other government systems, including the unified healthcare information system.
The Ministry of Finance earlier proposed to promote the Sanitary Shield project to the global level.
