A new tuberculosis vaccine is set to undergo testing in Russia by the end of 2025. Upon proving its effectiveness, the plan is to file for its registration with the Ministry of Health in 2026. This was announced by Alexander Ginzburg, the director of the Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology.
“Now this is the most important area of our work and the most important problem for modern medicine. I believe that the creation of a new drug for tuberculosis, which in the first stages would work together with BCG, and over time, I think, would replace BCG, is at the third stage of clinical trials,” he clarified.
