On March 13 in Kazan, at the 10th Anniversary All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference with International Participation “Bekhterev Readings – 2024”, a symposium was held under the auspices of the Russian Society of Somnologists: “Modern approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders”. It was at this discussion that Professor Eduard YAKUPOV, one of the most renowned neurologists and organizer of the Bekhterev Readings, gave such an original imaginative comparison of the NovaMedica drug with the most powerful inhabitants of the ocean – whales.

Eduard YAKUPOV, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Professor Yakupov Neuroclinic and Education Center, gave his report on the “Treatment of Insomnia: Review of European Clinical Guidelines - 2023” at the symposium with the support of NovaMedica and spoke about modern methods and options for treating insomnia.

In his speech, Professor Yakupov introduced the conference participants to the most current review of approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders provided in foreign recommendations, and described the way these methods focus on drug therapy and the active ingredients diphenhydramine and melatonin, as well as the effectiveness of their combination.

This original fixed combination of the two components in the form of modified-release capsules is available in the NovaMedica drug for the treatment of insomnia Levroso Long[1]. Eduard YAKUPOV compared the combination of diphenhydramine and melatonin in this drug with two whales who face hardships in the open ocean and support each other to achieve success in swimming. According to him, in the same way Levroso Long[1], thanks to the action of its two components, provides effective treatment for insomnia vs. monotherapy, ensuring quicker onset of sleep and at the same time increasing the duration of sleep without waking.

Professor also noted that, unlike many sleeping pills, this combination is not addictive.

Eduard Yakupov's report was received with great interest and attention by the audience; the hall was full, and for his speech, lively and full of noteworthy information, Professor enjoyed warm recognition –applause from the audience and grateful comments on the sidelines of the seminar.

The 10th Anniversary All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference with International Participation “Bekhterev Readings – 2024” was held as part of the Neuroforum “Neuroscience Week in Kazan-2024” on March 12-13. It was dedicated to Vladimir Mikhailovich Bekhterev, a great scientist, an outstanding healthcare organizer and a brilliant clinician, whose ideas laid the foundation for modern advances.
