An experiment on online trading of prescription drugs will begin in the Russian Federation on January 1 next year, Denis Manturov, Russia’s Minister of Industry and Trade said at the Ecomference Rupost Retail Week International e-Commerce Forum.
“Moscow, Moscow region and Belgorod region are considered as pilot regions. The entire infrastructure has been formed: a system providing end-to-end traceability of the movement of pharmaceuticals has already been implemented, and electronic prescriptions in QR code format have been tested in a number of regions. Together with our colleagues in the government, we will analyze the results of the pilot project and continue to move towards scaling up the tested practice,” the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade quotes Manturov as saying.
European countries that have not yet legalized online sale of prescription drugs will also learn from the Russian experience. These countries include France, Switzerland, Spain, the Netherlands, and a number of others, the ministry noted.
