The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation is considering the possibility of creating a separate site where the production of vaccines will be concentrated. This was stated by Denis Manturov, the Minister of Industry and Trade, at the BiotechMed forum.
According to him, the creation of such a platform is currently being discussed. “The production of vaccines [against COVID-19] was carried out at non-specialized sites. Traditionally, these production units manufactured a different range of medicines. For example, both Biocad and Generium specialized in the production of monoclonal antibodies. We had to reengineer production for other tasks,” the minister said.
Manturov noted that in response to biological challenges it is necessary to create conditions for the rapid production of vaccines that will be required by the healthcare system. The minister did not specify what the basis for such a platform would be and when it would be created.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade also proposes to ease the “second one out” rule for the supply of medical equipment.
As it became known earlier, the production of a vaccine against any infections can be resumed in Russia.
