A unique centre specializing in innovative “genomic research and genetic technologies” is to open doors at Novosibirsk State University (NSU). The Institute of Genetic Technologies (IGT), cofounded by the Institute of Cytology and Genetics (Russian Academy of Sciences, Siberian Branch) and NSU, will deliver education and implement joint research projects. The new Institute is expected to start work this autumn.
IGT training programmes will rely on cutting-edge laboratory facilities and advanced genetic technologies, benefitting from the scientific infrastructure and teaching capacities offered by the Institute of Cytology and Genetics.
IGT’s research efforts, which will be integrated with training, will range from high-throughput glycomics to 3D genomics, cancer genomics and dorsalgia genetics.
To encourage interdisciplinary research, the Institute will bring together the expertise in mathematics, medicine, chemistry and IT from scientists working across Novosibirsk’s famous research hub Akademgorodok.
