The Russian government has to prepare an updated action plan in a week to counter omicron strain of coronavirus infection. This was announced on Tuesday, November 30, during the plenary session of the VTB Capital investment forum “Russia Calling!” by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“I would like to ask the Government – I address my colleagues in the Government of the Russian Federation – to prepare within a week an updated plan of action to counter the risks of the spread of the new coronavirus strain,” TASS quotes the head of state as saying.
As Putin stressed, mutual recognition of vaccines and vaccination certificates is an important measure in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It is only possible to counter it effectively by coordinating the efforts of the entire international community. I am referring to mutual recognition of vaccines and vaccination certificates, access to vaccines in all regions of the planet and joint work on new anti-coronavirus medications,” the Russian president said.
According to Vladimir Putin, the understanding of shared responsibility, especially by the leaders of the world’s most advanced countries, will become a foundation for more vigorous joint actions.
Manufacturers of Sputnik V and Sputnik Lite vaccines against coronavirus will be able, if necessary, to supply hundreds of millions of doses of the vaccine adapted against the omicron strain to the markets by February 20, 2022, as Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), said earlier.
