In January-June 2019, the industrial production index of the pharmaceutical industry in Moscow grew by 34.5% compared to the first half of 2018. The city occupies 19.5% of the total volume of shipped pharmaceutical products in Russia: in the first half of the year, Moscow shipped medicines worth 53.9 billion rubles. This is 9.1% higher than last year.

Investments in fixed assets of large and medium-sized enterprises that produce drugs in Moscow in January-March 2019 amounted to 1.4 billion rubles.

“Pharmaceuticals are one of the most socially important industries in the Russian capital. That is why we concluded the first offset contracts with pharmaceutical companies, which invest 8.8 billion rubles in new production. Moscow is one of the largest pharmaceutical production centers in Russia, but also one of the largest consumers. Therefore, the city is interested in medicines that are important for the population to be produced on its territory,”

said Alexander Prokhorov, head of the Moscow Investment and Industrial Policy Department.

In addition to concluding offset contracts, Moscow provides support to manufacturers of medical devices and drugs, which are assigned the status of an industrial complex. In addition, several pharmaceutical companies became residents of the Technopolis Moscow Special Economic Zone.
